Building a custom home is a collaboration.

At Kohl Construction we work with you as a team and know that clear
communication among all the contributors is the key to a successful project.

From the very first description of your dream to the day you move in to your new home, we work to translate your vision into reality - all the while remaining committed to meeting your schedule and budgetary goals.

Some begin their home planning process with a file of magazine cutouts or a published house plan from the Internet; some bring photos of a beloved prior home or exterior shots of houses in a style appealing to them; others have been in our homes and loved them just the way they are!



Many arrive with distinct ideas - about room layout and function, favorite materials and amenities - but nothing on paper. Wherever you are in the planning process, we can provide the tools and expertise to arrive at the right design for you.

After the basic information about scale and budget is defined, development of a working plan can begin. We can now work with an existing Kohl Construction plan (there are hundreds to choose from), a published plan that you select, an architect of your choice, or with our in-house design team and CAD specialist.

When you are satisfied with the design and specifications, an estimate is prepared which incorporates detailed pricing of all materials, labor, and subcontractor quotes. This fixed-cost estimate, along with the construction plans and specifications, becomes part of the construction agreement.

Once agreed upon, the price does not change unless you request alterations to the work described in those documents. If the price of lumber, labor, or concrete increases your cost remains the same. Clients often leave a few items - such as carpet, tile and decorative lighting - to be selected during the construction phase. We include allowances in the contract towards your final selections.

Now the outdoor fun begins! Your project manager is the key contact from this point forward as he coordinates the work of Kohl Construction's full-time, year-round team of craftsmen.

Through the years we have developed strong relationships with skilled specialty tradespeople, and their work too is coordinated by the project manager.

At this stage, you will be in frequent contact as you finalize choices of allowance items, colors, etc. These decisions are ultimately rewarding as they make this home not merely custom but uniquely yours.

After you move in, Kohl Construction is still available for support. Our relationship continues with a yearlong builder's warranty and with our commitment to your satisfaction with your home.
